Who's Next?

Who's Next?

For some of us, it’s been almost 20 years. For others, it started with a college roommate, a friend, a teacher, or even a conversation with a stranger.

Some found Victory Life as children. Some came during college. Some were searching for a church home. Others weren’t looking at all.

But the stories are different, and the theme is the same:
Someone invited us. We found a home. And God used His people to change our lives.

For Cole Pofahl, Victory Life slowly became more than a place his family attended. Through different seasons and leadership, the Lord faithfully called them to stay planted and reshaped their understanding of what church is meant to be — “not just a place we go, but a home. A family of brothers and sisters in Christ where we worship, serve, encourage one another, and love our community together.”

Looking back, Cole can see God’s sovereign hand at work, even in seasons when they couldn’t see it. The friendships they’ve built along the way — filled with love, accountability, leadership, and teaching — have been an incredible blessing.

For Kelsy Bryant, finding a church home was important before she ever stepped through the doors. An ag science teacher told her about Victory Life, and when she and her roommate visited, they immediately noticed something different.

“After just one Sunday, we knew we’d found our home.”

For Emily Burgoin, it happened through a chance conversation with a couple at the park. A simple conversation about not having found a church home turned into an invitation to come to VLC.

They never left.

Six years later, she says the impact of Victory Life on their family has been immense. From baptisms to Vacation Bible School chaos, they’ve found something rare — real community and friendships rooted in faith that will last a lifetime.

For Paxton Eulenbach, an invitation to church camp changed the entire direction of her life. In fifth grade, she changed schools and became friends with a girl who invited her to camp. Her family had never gone to church, and although she had heard about God, she didn’t really know Him.

That week, she gave her life to Christ.

For Ashlyn Avery, it was a conversation in the Texas Tech Quad during a discouraging season. She felt prompted to talk to a group who were talking about Jesus, and they invited her to Exchange.

She expected to stand in the back and slip out unnoticed.

Instead, she was welcomed to the front and introduced to everyone.

She quickly discovered that it wasn’t just the worship team that felt like family — the whole congregation did.

“The whole church is marked with intentionality. No one is unimportant, and everyone is welcomed with the love of Christ.”

That invitation didn’t just lead Ashlyn to a church home. She met her husband at Exchange, and now they serve together in the very ministry that grew their love for Jesus deeper than they ever imagined.

For Kacy Segrist, the search looked different. She was desperately looking for a young adult group where she could do life with other believers. She tried multiple churches but couldn’t find the community she was looking for.

Then a friend invited her to the young adult group forming at Victory Life.

She went the next Sunday and never left.

Now, she gets to live life with that same community — meeting regularly, pushing one another, holding one another accountable, and serving together. Today, she also serves in VKids and gets to witness children learning about Jesus.

For Samantha Hall, Victory Life has walked with her through nearly every season of adult life. She first heard about VLC during Texas Tech freshman orientation in 2017, and from the beginning, it felt like home.

During college, she found a community that encouraged her, held her accountable, and helped her grow through Bible study. But over time, that community became something even deeper.

They walked with her through engagement, marriage, pregnancy, and becoming a parent.

“Through every season, we’ve had people who celebrate with us, encourage us, pray with us, and point us toward Jesus.”

That is the kind of community Olivia Harris found, too.

A Thursday morning women’s Bible study became a turning point for her. “I found my tribe — women who challenged, encouraged, and walked alongside me in my faith.”

That community didn’t just impact her. It changed the trajectory of her entire family.

Through serving in the college ministry, their faith grew from simply believing in Jesus to living lives fully surrendered to Him.

And for Kaitlyn Bergara, there is something beautiful about raising children alongside other believers who are raising their children to know and love Jesus too — walking through life with people who are willing to be vulnerable, truly know one another, and learn what it looks like to live out their faith together.

Different people. Different generations. Different seasons.

But one faithful God.

As Malissa Smith said, “Through different leadership and different seasons, God has remained faithful — He continues to use VLC to speak His word to His people.”

We are thankful for every person God has brought through our doors.

For every invitation.

For every friendship.

For every Bible study, Sunday morning, church camp, Exchange night, serving opportunity, conversation, prayer, and moment of discipleship that God has used to draw people closer to Himself.

Because we know these stories aren’t finished.

There is still someone who needs an invitation.
Someone who needs a church family.
Someone who needs to be reminded that they have a place.
Someone who needs to know Jesus.
Someone who needs someone to walk beside them and point them toward Him.

And with expectant hearts, we’re praying and believing for who’s next.
